“Meditation is the compass of my soul.”
Laura’s Bio
About
Originally from Bogota, Colombia, Laura Cuervo is a certified yoga teacher who moved to the United States in 2021. Many years prior to her move, she worked with and guided individuals and their families through the dying process. It was during this time that Laura realized that although her life was full, it lacked meaning. She turned to yoga, and then introduced meditation as a tool to cope with the doubts and fears of life. Today, Laura views meditation as “the compass of her soul,” and a sustaining force, as the act of meditating can happen at any time.
Mission
Laura has studied under several teachers and has a particular interest in the intersection of psychological therapy and meditation. She studied psychological techniques in therapies based on Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focus Therapy (CFT) at the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. She also took the Cultivation of Compassion course based on the theory of Kristin Neff and Paul Gilbert. She is a Certified Health Coach from Institute of Integrative Nutrition from New York and a Mental Health Advocate. Laura combines the process of meditation with processes of psychological therapy, allowing her a better understanding of difficult issues and how to address them.

Practice
Laura tries to meditate every morning, although her routine isn’t always the same. She incorporates mindfulness into day-to-day aspects of life, from walking to drinking her coffee, through mantras, music, and silence. Pema Chodron’s writings are a source of inspiration and insight for Laura.
