At Pause and Purpose, we provide a sacred gathering place to invoke deep realizations with non-biased and nurturing support. Through meditation, journaling, somatic practices, and circling our mindfulness gatherings help you connect deeply with community as your truest self.

Our trauma-informed approach is not just a method; it's the essence of our philosophy, ensuring that every class is a safe haven for healing and growth.

The Pause + Purpose community is not about conforming to a specific spiritual practice.

We are united in our commitment to pushing the boundary of individual uniqueness.

Inspired by the neuroscientific research of Westport native, Dr. Lisa Miller, in collaboration with Columbia and Yale Universities, our Founder has made it a priority to integrate scientific-based insights into each Pause and Purpose class gathering and special event, enriching our practices with valuable context.

Life Enhancing Classes

Drawing from life’s natural flow of seasons, our gatherings provide a renewed sense of grounding and connection with nature, ourselves, and each other. Our classes are centered around the three pillars of Pause + Purpose:

  • Root

    Root

Root gatherings promote relaxation, stress relief, and deep calm, grounding you in the present for overall well-being.

  • Center

    Center

Center gatherings build strength, enhance alignment, and improve stability, fostering a strong, balanced body and mind.

  • Expand

    Expand

Expand gatherings invigorate the body, boost vitality, and promote growth through dynamic movement, helping you thrive.

Our gatherings are guided by the principle of trauma sensitivity.

Trauma, whether a single life-altering event or a series of subtle, long-lasting experiences, leaves indelible marks on both the mind and body. By acknowledging the impact of trauma we create a supportive space that considers the nuanced needs of those who have experienced it.

  • Ensuring an inclusive, non-threatening environment for all.

  • Control over your participation level, fostering autonomy.

  • Paying purposeful and non-judgmental attention to the present moment, allowing ourselves to be fully engaged with our thoughts, emotions, and sensations.

  • Use of language that respects all participants' experiences.

Sustainability

We ARE nature. At Pause and Purpose we believe the best way to heal the planet is to first heal ourselves and our relationship to the earth.

In order to improve our practices at the studio, we encourage guests to bring reusable water bottles and mugs for class. We have also replaced wipes with reusable paper towels and clean luxury spray by Floraco.

“Knowing ourselves as a microcosm of the Earth allows us to see that all around us is an extension of our body; our home. When we truly embody this knowing, we make aligned decisions.” - P+P mentor Lydia Picoli.
